He returned to New York City and received his medical degree at New York University School of Medicine. After medical school, he completed internship in General Surgery and residency in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington, D.C. During residency, Dr. Hecht scored the highest in the nation on the annual in-service training examination.
